A very special limited edition Mini Cooper Register watch.

For the 60th Anniversary of the Cooper S in 2023 the MCR have teamed up with British watch company Elliot Brown to produce a unique anniversary time piece as a tribute to the all-conquering Mini Cooper S.

The Mini Cooper Register was founded in 1986 for owners and enthusiasts to share the Cooper’s rich history, from race and rally successes to being the car of choice for many of the ’60s coolest trendsetters.

The introduction of the Rover Cooper in the 1990s and BMW’s new MINI for the 21st century have further extended the membership and created fresh interest in the increasingly rare and valuable original Coopers.

That interest is reflected in the club’s wide range of marque registers. We don’t just cater for Mini Coopers, owners of non-Cooper models are just as welcome.

The limited edition Holton Automatic watch typifies Elliot Brown's watch making DNA perfectly. Quietly handsome, for those who don't want their watch to shout too loudly, it’s the sort of watch you need never take off, no matter how tough the conditions or how smart the attire. The Cooper Register Edition is a one-time only, limited batch for members and enthusiasts.

Cooper S Watch Features:
Brimming with creative details relevant to the original Cooper S and the marque's 60th anniversary, many of which are opaque to the wider world but relevant and authentic to those familiar with the story.

• Representing gear change markers due to the original dash not having a rev counter are yellow digits, I, II and III at 8H, 10H and 1H positions
• Dash lights for ignition, oil and high beam are hidden within the 4H, 8H and 12H hour markers
• By advancing or retarding the 12 hour scale on the outer bezel, the watch becomes a GMT to indicate the time in a second time zone – all the while the number 5 is actually a white “S” that glows cool blue at night
• On the dial the large digits 1, 9, 6 and 3 (1963), plus the 60 above the 12H marker are picked out in white, reminiscent of racing livery. At night they glow cool blue as a nod to the year the first Cooper S rolled off the production line and for this 60th Anniversary year
• Under the 6H marker are the words 60TH ANNIVERSARY 1963 – 2023 micro printed in white
• The unique dial subtly recreates the brocade seat fabric embossed pattern, using a combination of matt and gloss finishes in Connaught green
• The tip and balancing ‘lollipop’ of the seconds had are painted Connaught green
• The case back carries the Mini Cooper Register logo precisely etched, framed with a laurel wreath under which there's a small rectangular raised plaque containing the unique number of each limited edition watch

Holton military grade time keeping:

• The NH35 automatic movement is housed within an internal shock protection system with every component of the watch built for long term performance
• 2mm toughened sapphire crystal is further enhanced with a multi-layer anti reflective coating to ensure the bold hour markers and hands are instantly visible no matter the lighting conditions. Even in pitch black the dial timing glows cool green and blue for up to 8 hours thanks to high grade C3 and BGW9 SuperLuminova
• The black bezel insert is case hardened so it’s literally harder than nails whilst there’s a functional high grip outer surface to ensure the bezel can be used for count down timing duties even with gloved hands
• Quick, easy strap changes are possible thanks to unbreakable solid screw in strap bars, removable in seconds using the tool provided
• The case itself is machined from solid 316L stainless steel that undergoes matt vapour blasting to give this special edition a lovely technical character
• The screw down crown is triple sealed and deeply recessed at 4H out of harm’s way and virtually indestructible. Please note the wheel detail shown etched into the end of the crown is subject to order numbers reaching a minimum agreed with the project sponsor
• The compressor case back is precisely etched with the register logo, framed by a laurel wreath, under which sits a rectangular plaque carrying each watch’s unique number. Below that is space for personal engraving of up to 20 characters
  Two strap options:
• Matt black leather with contrasting white stitch has fitted ends that marry smoothly to the watch case. Fitted with a premium deployant clasp that simply clicks closed to the correct size once initial adjustment has been made, preventing degradation of the leather normally associated with a pin buckle strap £675
• Vapour blasted three link solid stainless bracelet with multi position extending diver’s clasp £745 (with bracelet discounted by 30%)

Every watch is uniquely numbered on the case back

Bezel:
120 click high grip 12H GMT bezel with hardened stainless steel insert and bespoke bi-colour SuperLuminova with Cooper 'S' at 5H that glows blue. The hobnail knurling around the edge is slightly higher than the insert to create a high grip surface for trustworthy operation even when using the palm of a gloved hand. 
 

Straps:

Leather or solid steel bracelet are easily changed and are secured with solid steel screw in bars driven by the five lobe tool included that locks into the socket heads in the bars.
 

Crown:
The recessed screw-down crown is triple sealed and located out of harm's way at 4H ensuring it won't dig into the wrist and can't get caught or damaged.

Dial:
Easy to read at a glance day or night with bold markings for clarity. The hour markers are bold pyramids reminiscent of 1970s military dive watches, brought up to date with our trademark 12-3-6-9 cardinal graphics, printed in C3 or BW9G Superluminova.
 

Hands:
Clear differentiation between hours, minutes and seconds for minimal chance of confusion. The stubby ‘sword’ hour hand and slender parallel minutes hand are both filled with C3 Superluminova.

Glass:
Flat sapphire glass with internal multi layer anti reflective coating minimises glare for perfect visibility in all light conditions. 
 

Movement:

Seiko NH35 self-winding automatic movement with 42hr power reserve with hack (stop), and hand-winding. Housed inside our shock protection movement housing with elastomer shock absorbers. 
Manufacturer's expected movement accuracy: -20/+40sec per day. Typical real world accuracy: +/- 15sec per day.
 

Caseback
Bolted down using hex bolts creating a perfect compression seal and correct tension for the shock absorption system. Multiple surfaces minimise skin contact for comfort. Caseback engraving will always be vertical as shown.
