International travel: Modern mission timing with the Beachmaster
Getting to travel with work is one of life's real perks, especially if you love the adventure of new cities, meeting new people and working in different environments, as I do. With our ever-growing international business, we're lucky enough to regularly visit destinations across North America and Europe, and it's a privilege we never take for granted.
Tracking time zones
Being able to track home time (a second time zone) while I'm away is vital. Not only does it help me stay in sync with the office, but it also reminds me not to miss those important moments at home, like saying goodnight to my daughter. It's a simple thing, but it keeps me grounded when I'm on the other side of the world.
I never travel without my trusty Beachmaster. As a military wife and veteran, H-Hour has a deeper meaning for me. Thankfully, I don't find myself in a position to assault a beach on a daily basis, but I do use the mission timing function of the Beachmaster every time I fly.
Mission timing, counting down and up
When flying internationally, you're advised to arrive at the airport three hours before departure. That's when I set my mission timer. Using H-Hour as my takeoff time, I set the internal bezel to H-3 on arrival. As time passes, the GMT hand moves steadily towards H-Hour and, just like that, I'm on the plane and ready for takeoff. Simple, intuitive, effective.
Where it really comes into its own is during the flight. Long-haul travel can distort your sense of time. Ten hours in the air, multiple time zones and early starts all blur together. That's where the count-up function helps. As the GMT hand continues around the dial, I track elapsed time using H+2, H+3, and so on. After being engrossed in a film or a quick nap, one glance tells me exactly how far into the journey I am and how much time is left.
A talismanic timepiece
We often talk about watches being talismanic, and for me that couldn't be more true. My Beachmaster keeps me connected to home, gives me clarity when I'm too tired to think straight, and brings a sense of control to long, unpredictable journeys. I wouldn't be without it, and I'm proud to be part of a business that creates unique, practical timing solutions for modern travel, rooted in a heritage and steeped in history.
