Full Description

A unique design collaboration with Land Rover Classic, limited to 1000 pieces worldwide.

A real work horse of a watch with Swiss movement, shock protection, tested in water at 200m and fit for purpose. The Holton Professional on which this model is based was originally created for elite military use.

Special details celebrating the creation of the Land Rover Works V8 Trophy Defenders include:

  • Tri colour ‘lume’ expedition dial inspired by the expedition camouflage of the Works V8 Trophy vehicles glows white, ice blue and pale green.

(Include link that opens a new page to the vehicles as verification)

  • As with the limited run of vehicles, hidden Series Defender silhouettes feature but are only visible when the dial is glowing (UV torch included)
  • Matt dazzle camouflage case with bi-colour hardened PVD coating over marine grade stainless steel.
  • Unique black hands with white lollipop counter balance on ice blue tipped seconds hand.
  • At the base of the dial under the 6h baton are the words ‘Freezing Point’ along with a frozen star at the 32 seconds position printed in pale ice blue (as in Freezing Point 32 Degrees Fahrenheit) aping ‘Snow’ the internal code name for the Trophy II vehicles.
  • The case back displays the unique number given to every watch (allocated randomly), the Land Rover Trophy logo and Union Flag with silhouettes of Series Land rovers brightly brushed in contrast to the dark background.
  • Finishing the watch is a bespoke soft rubber deployant strap for the perfect combination of comfort, practicality and classy aesthetic.

Michael van der Sande, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, said: “The latest Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II was a hugely exciting project to work on and we’re delighted to see our creative elements incorporated into the Land Rover Trophy Expedition watch.

“Land Rover has been involved with global expeditions for more than seven decades and this partnership with official timekeeper Elliot Brown helps us celebrate our history with a unique, desirable and tough watch that echoes everything our Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II is about.”

Ian Elliot, Co-Founder, Elliot Brown Watches, said: “The Holton Professional is a watch with rare pedigree, designed for professional duty and widely chosen by adventurers, specialist military operators and emergency services.

Developing the Holton Land Rover Trophy Expedition limited edition is one of the most enjoyable projects we have ever embarked upon, boasting many imaginative details that celebrate the exceptional nature of the Classic Defender Works V8 Trophy II vehicles.”

Specification

Case: 316L stainless, matt vapour blasted, bi colour dazzle camouflage PVD, treated with an anti-fingerprint coating that naturally repels mud and grime. Every watch is individually pressure tested to 200m at several points during production

Dial: easy to read at a glance day or night with a military bearing that’s relevant and familiar. Dial surface printed in tri colour SuperLuminova@ high grade luminous paint that glows white, ice blue and pale green in expedition inspired camouflage shapes with hidden Series Defenders. Hour markers are bold black against the luminous dial. Under the 6h marker are the words Freezing Point picked out in ice blue. Next to it at the 32 minute marker is an asterisk frozen star picking out 32 degrees Fahrenheit, freezing point.

Hands: clear differentiation between solid black hours, minutes and seconds hands with minimal chance of confusion. Short stubby ‘sword’ hour hand, long slender parallel minutes hand with pointed tip that reaches precisely to the minute markers. Seconds hand features ‘invisible’ white lollipop counter balance with ice blue tip.

Caseback: Displays the unique number given to every watch, along with the Land Rover Trophy logo, Union Flag and silhouettes of Series Land Rovers, brightly brushed in contrast to the dark matt background. Bolted down using hex bolts creating a perfect compression seal, logo alignment and correct tension for the movement shock absorption system.

Bezel: high grip, uni directional divers bezel case hardened to 1200HV Vickers hardness. Highly resistant to marking and provides an outer layer of protection for the watch. The high grip texture enables the bezel to be turned by gripping the sides or pressing downwards and the fine hobnail pattern ensures the bezel can't be caught on anything, turning it accidentally. Hardened black stainless bezel insert with white bold count down timing indices picked out in SuperLuminova® ice blue lume.

N.B. this bezel is unapologetically fit for purpose. Please be aware it can catch or wear shirt cuffs prematurely.

Crown: easy to use yet highly protected. Deeply recessed, screws down into watch case, triple sealed, hobnail knurling for high grip, 4h position keeps it out of harms way

Crystal: bevelled 2mm toughened sapphire with anti reflective coating applied to the inner surface to minimise glare for perfect visibility in all light conditions. It’s mounted fractionally below the hardened bezel to minimise the chance of the edge becoming chipped, with a matching black sealing ring. To pass QC, every crystal must be capable of withstanding an impact applied 3 times by a 17mm steel ball dropped from 0.5m

Movement: Swiss Ronda calibre 715 with low-battery/end of life indicator. Housed inside a proprietary shock protection system consisting of a steel housing suspended by elastomer shock absorbers inside the outer watch casing and unique to Elliot Brown. Projected battery life 3 years.

Strap: bespoke black soft rubber deployant strap for the perfect combination of comfort, practicality and aesthetic. Features diamond breather holes and rope shaped breather texture inside – inspired by Elliot Brown’s waterside HQ.

Strap fixing: solid steel strap bars that screw directly into the case shoulders, driven by a 5-lobe head so that the driver (included with the watch) can't slip or climb out, ensuring simple and fast strap changes whilst also providing maximum security - no spring-bars to break. All 22mm Elliot Brown straps also fit this watch – matching steel bracelets, leather, webbing etc.

Sizing

  • 9H-3H 43mm excluding crown
  • 12H-6H - 52mm max to tip of case shoulders
  • Maximum thickness 12mm
  • Fits up to 190mm/7.5" wrist perfectly
  • Our webbing straps fit larger wrists, and metal bracelets can have any number of links added

Warranty

We design and re-design every component to make watches that are fundamentally fit-for-purpose, minimising or eliminating typical points of failure such as spring bars breaking, straps snapping, or watches leaking - all potentially catastrophic failures.

Any watches damaged in service can be repaired quickly and economically at our in-house workshop in Poole and returned to service with the minimum of disruption.

Not only is our servicing world class, the warranty has no small print. It’s honest, comprehensive, and straightforward. The whole watch is covered for 5 years, not just the movement. The only exclusions are accidental damage, the battery and wear & tear.
