The Land Rover x Elliot Brown Holton Professional is the result of a true meeting of minds, creating a watch with capability and durability that goes above and beyond. The starting point is the Holton Professional, a watch that enjoys the rarest of honours: being issued as military equipment to a specialist unit.
Unusually for the industry, we test every single watch in water at a depth of at least 200m which is deeper than any human will ever dive. The Holton Professional has also passed stringent military evaluation, thriving in unimaginably harsh conditions. It's fair to say it's the perfect kick-off point for a collaboration with a partner is as highly regarded as Land Rover.
Since 1948 Land Rover has been manufacturing authentic 4x4s that represent true 'breadth of capability' across the model range. In keeping with Land Rover’s capability and durability, this fit-for-purpose Holton also has carefully considered design cues at its core.
The watch combines the expertise of two leading design teams, working together to create natural authenticity. The Land Rover Holton epitomises 'fit for purpose', blessed with no-nonsense, tried-and-tested features that make it so desirable as an everyday companion no matter what the occasion or environment.
The face and bezel design reflect this perfectly. The dial indices and hands take subtle cues from Land Rover’s instrumentation while retaining the EB house style. It's a go anywhere, do anything kind of watch, built to an unusually high standard with a choice of comfy, durable rubber or technical webbing straps fit for any occasion.
David Sparks, Jaguar Land Rover’s Head of Licensing and Product, said: “Elliot Brown’s proven expertise makes them the ideal partner for Land Rover. The result is a stunning-looking watch that lives up to legendary Land Rover attributes of capability, durability, design and engineering excellence.”
There are so many details to admire. The dial nods to 1948, when the first Land Rover was launched. The smallest micro markers pick out the numerals 19 and 48 in orange just outside the bold hour indices. They are very subtle, but if you know, you know.
The watch case is machined from solid 316L marine grade stainless steel, a material that's extremely durable and develops a characterful patina over years of hard use. Once honed to exacting tolerances, a precise matte surface texture is created by vapour-blasting. The case is then treated with toughened gunmetal PVD, a process that takes 12 hours.
The uni-directional bezel is knurled with a hobnail texture that extends onto the upper surface, designed for high grip even with a wet glove or muddy hand. The clearly marked bezel insert is case hardened so it will simply brush off everyday knocks and scrapes – it is literally harder than nails.
The high-grip crown is recessed into the case and positioned at 4 o'clock, where it screws down to keep it out of harm's way. The solid stainless strap bars are unbreakable but are a cinch to remove with the tool provided for easy strap changes.
With bold SuperLuminova luminous hands and indices for instant clarity in all conditions, plus tough 2mm anti-reflective sapphire crystal, this watch is ready for action whenever you are.
