A darker expression of our original dive watch, Bloxworth Obsidian pairs deep black ceramic with brushed steel, flashes of mirror polish and pop of colour to make things interesting.
Inspired by the classic dive watches of the 1950s, it takes everything we love about our Heritage Diver and gives it a sharper, darker edge. Sleek and polished when you want it to be; a proper, fit-for-purpose diver when you need it to be.
The wave-embossed black dial and gloss ceramic bezel sit in stark contrast to the brushed steel case, while mustard yellow pips at the hour markers, on the reflector ring and on the tip of the seconds hand adds an unexpected hit of warmth and playfulness.
Don’t let the polished surfaces and good looks fool you, though. Every ounce of that detailing has been engineered to perform in the harshest environments, with Elliot Brown toughness running right through it.
There’s elegant simplicity in abundance, but one glance at the spec tells you this is still very much a workhorse. One thing the spec won’t tell you is the little Easter egg we’ve hidden for those with an eagle eye.
A subtly domed, toughened and anti-reflective sapphire crystal is framed by a precision-engineered, 120-click ceramic diver’s bezel with exceptionally clear markings. A finely polished steel highlight gives way to vertically machined splines around the coin edge, sitting just proud enough of the case to give positive grip and easy handling, even with a gloved hand.
At 40mm, it’s designed to sit comfortably on just about any wrist. The fitted rubber strap uses our beautifully detailed split-buckle deployant and features internal rope breather lines inspired by the view from our harbour-side headquarters. Swap in the matching steel bracelet and Obsidian takes on an altogether smarter character, or throw it on a fabric strap when something more relaxed is called for. The STR-B07 is the one you’ll need to match the case.
And, as with every Elliot Brown, looking good is only half the job.
Every single watch must pass our stringent testing programme, including a 200m pressure test in water, before we deem it fit for use. We also take watches from every batch and hit them with a 3kg stainless steel pendulum mallet to make sure our movement shock-protection system is doing exactly what it should. That’s an impact of around 500G, in case you were wondering.
None of this is mandatory. We just think it should be.
Which means whether Obsidian ends up beneath a shirt cuff, beneath the waves or somewhere considerably less hospitable, you can wear it with complete confidence – backed by our no-nonsense five-year warranty.
